Beers flowed, challenges were made, and pins fell over as 26 of
Kenilworth Masters swimmers, friends and family enjoyed a Saturday
evening at Leamington's Mega bowl.
Billed as one of the biggest nights of the club's social year,
the morale boosting event on the weekend ahead of the Midlands Championships
didn't disappoint. Swimmers had their training regime clearly in
mind as they downed copious pints of high carb isotonic 'aiming
juice', consumption of which told in the bowling scores as performances
first improved and then declined with mounting alcohol.
High Stakes
A keen competitive spirit built amongst the team as Julia recorded
swimming challenges to be settled at the forthcoming gala. With
more than just pride stake, wine, chocolate and babysitting sit
to be won by wining challengers, and cross-dressing forfeits sit
to be lost.
Prizes
With an impressive 171 in the first round, Sandy scooped the bowling
prize for the highest aggregate score for the second year running
despite some blatant second round show-boating. However, Rachel
failed to retain her 'bowling flop' moniker, being roundly beaten
to the wooden spoon by Joy.
An impressive number of bowlers survived the trip across town to
the Fox, and tales of narrowly missed strikes and imprudently entered
challenges flowed.
The evening ended with moral dilemma. Should a man wearing a ladies
swimming costume to a training session also wear drag shorts?.
