Record Breakers in our midst
It is once again time to show our admiration and doff our collective hats to great and the good of our membership.
Our Ladies 280 relay team of Brenda Hallard, Pat James, Ruth Taylor and of course our reigning European Champion Elisabeth Green decided that Sunday 6 April 2008 would be as good a day as any to break a national record. Starting off in the morning session with medley relay. They recorded a time of 3 38.90 and by doing so managed to knock a whopping 10 seconds of the previous best chalked up by Spencer Masters in 2005.
Realizing the aesthetically lopsided problems of displaying one record certificate they resolved themselves to achieve mantelpiece symmetry in the afternoon. They returned to the pool in the second session of the day determined to bag the brace. They achieved their goal in fine style by knocking 5 seconds off the existing record for the 4 x 50 freestyle relay, recording a time of 3 00.97 and thus they removed the team of Spencer Masters from the list once more.
Well done ladies from all the members
North of the Border
In only his second appearance at the Midlands, Rob Robson decided this year, that a clutch of records would be a reasonable return for his endeavours in the pool.
Swimming all the breastroke distances in the 35-39 age group he recorded times of 31.84 for the 50m, 1 09.98 for the 100m and 2 35.72 for the 200m, breaking Scottish national records in all (waiting for ratification)
Well done Rob. It must have been the new fastskin jammers working their magic.
And the rest of us
As well as our record breakers there were great, nearly great, average and some downright awful swims from the rest of the Kenilworth Masters contingent. See the full list of results below.
