Once again swimmers from Kenilworth Masters put on an impressive display of sprint endurance in the annual Soroptimists Charity Relay Swim.
To compete in the event you have to have a team of six who under go a rolling 50 metre relay for 55 minutes. The team that completes the furthest distance in that time often feels rather ill but is also named as the winners.
Kenilworth entred two teams one mens and one ladies. The mens team consisted of:
Matt Thomas
Matt Wardle
John Smith
Steve Goult
Mike Ireland
Trevor Clark
The six completed 116 laps in 55 minutes, beating Leamington Swimming Club by 1 lap. This was the second time in the day that Matt Thomas swam, averaging 26.1 the first time and 26.3 for the second, completing 19 and 20 50m laps respectivly. Good effort...
The Ladies team consisted of:
Michelle Dige
Rachel Sear
Joy Stevenson
Karen Stacy
Suzanne Linton
Hannah Baker
They completed 97 laps and were only just beaten (1 lap) by a team of triathletes (4 men and 2 ladies) captained by Will Krik-Wilson...
All the sponsorship monies have now been collected, with the participants raising the sum of £240 for the cause.
