Kenilworth last the distance
Kenilworth Masters took part in the national T30 competition for the first time this Winter and came away with the spoils. The T30 competition is a national event which requires swimmers to see how far they can swim in a timed 30 minute session during the months of Nov, Dec and Jan.

Organised by Mel, the club ran two sessions for members to rack up the metres over the half an hour slot and we achieved the following:

Matt Wardle – 1st Men’s 25 to 29 age group
John Smith – 1st Men’s 30 to 34 age group
Chris Ryall – 3rd Men’s 40 to 44 age group

30 Swimmers agree to endure 30 minutes of pain

As the clock struck the hour of 8pm at Warwick Boys School the first wave of ten swimmers set off on their 30 minute odyssey. A full half an hour later the whistle blew to mark the end of the torment and second wave prepared themselves for their ordeal.

Unsurprisingly after their physical exertions, those just leaving the water found it difficult to collect their thoughts enough to find the people who's splits they were supposed to be recording, let alone working out how to operate a highly technical piece of timing equipment (a stop watch). As such the second wave did not push off until 20 to the hour of nine. At 9.10 pm the whistle blew to mark the end of the nights activities and the post match conversations began in ernest.
